Symmetry of the error distributions. We show distributions of the errors in semimajor axis (left column) and eccentricity (right column) of the binaries formed in the equal-mass Plummer data set. This is shown separately for the positive errors (solid, black) and negative errors (dashed red), to investigate the symmetry of the error distribution. From the panels at the top to the bottom, the time-step parameter for Hermite varies as 2⁻⁵, 2⁻⁷, 2⁻⁹ and 2⁻¹¹. An asymmetry can be observed at the smallest errors.
