Visualization of phew applied to a dark matter halo. We show a small sub-volume of the 512³ particle box used in our scaling experiment. The coordinates indicate the fraction of the box size. The sub-volume contains \({\approx}2 \times10^{6}\) particles. The objects that emerge after the noise removal (Level 0 clumps) are indicated in the second panel, where all particles belonging to the same object share a color. Every subsequent panel shows the status after a further round of merging as it is described in Section 2.6.
