Inner semi-major axis evolution. The evolution of the inner semimajor-axis on the same timescale as Figure 9 and 10. In the first Myr, the evolution of the system is dominated by the Lidov-Kozai mechanism and the inner semimajor-axis remains more or less constant. In the following Myr, the system circularizes and the semimajor-axis decreases by a factor 2. After synchronisation and circularisation has been reached, the inner semimajor-axis increases due to the ejection of stellar winds.
